The Best Fishing Around

Fishing

At Perch Bay, we are aptly named after this plentiful small species of fish and as every angler knows, where there’s little fish….there is big fish!  We are located in one of the best fishing areas in the Kenora area, only 1 kilometre down river from the Norman Dam.  For the last 100 years, this stretch of the river has proven itself to be a constant producer of all different species of fish.

Walleye

Many of our guests catch this popular eating fish right in the bay in front of the resort.  However, the Winnipeg River system itself boasts some truly great spots both up and down river.

Northern Pike

This big, rugged fish is plentiful in our area and typically we see many of our guests catching and releasing Northerns well over 5lbs.

Small Mouth Bass

With so much of our river being carved out of solid rock and pine trees, there are literally thousands of spots for these “super sport” fish to live.  Pick any of the bays and inlets along the river and you’ll find yourself in big bass territory.

Muskie & Sturgeon

Although these species of fish are not as common in our river, each year we hear reports of our guests landing the occasional muskie and even the rare Sturgeon has been caught slightly up river at the Norman Dam.  In years gone bye, Sturgeon here have measured over 100 pounds!

Family Fishing

One of the most important things to keep in mind when you book a trip to Perch Bay is the extremely high success rate that our fishery offers to all of the members of your family.  Standing on our docks, you’ll catch perch, perch and more perch! Kids love spending days fishing off  the docks and catching dozens of perch.  They literally line up to provide your kids with hours of fishing fun!
